MDM in the Public Sector
By David Butler on Jan 28, 2011
Government budgets are tight and getting tighter. But citizens still rely on government to provide the services they need. With multi-million dollar modernizations a thing of the past, one of the most practical things you can do to cut costs and improve service delivery is to rationalize the data you hold on users of your services.
Most government agencies do a great job of gathering data, however, all too often they find they are unable to consolidate or integrate information because the data resides in multiple systems or silos, being managed by different departments or agencies in various locations, never being updated in a consistent way. Agencies often rely on a patchwork set of computer systems that have been built up over the years. Master Data Management not only enables government organizations to consolidate and integrate multiple data sources to create a single user experience, it also enables existing government applications to share information and data. MDM provides a single-point-of-entry for multiple users, and offers lower operational costs by enabling cross-agency information sharing.
Public Sector organizations from small community constabularies to massive central government departments are using Oracle MDM to achieve their goals. If your organization is working to improve constituents service; initiate eGovernment; detect tax or social services fraud; improve supplier management; improve citizen privacy while maximizing secure data sharing; introduce modern IT infrastructures such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), or upgrading analytical systems; MDM can help. Oracle Master Data Management lets local, state and federal governmental organizations standardize and centralize citizen data, enabling them to deliver the right service to the right person at the right time, while significantly reducing operating costs.
Oracle is presenting a webcast on Thursday, February 10th called:
Deliver Improved Services to Citizens at Lower Cost to your Organization
Our Guest Speaker is Ruben Spekle, from Capgemini. He will provide insight into Public Sector Master Data Management and Case Management implementations including one that was executed for a Dutch Government Agency. If you are interested in how governmental organizations from around the world are using MDM to advance their cause, click here to register for this webcast.
