Solaris 10U4 is IPv6 ready
By MarkusFlierl-Oracle on May 17, 2007
We just got word from the Interoperability Lab at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), our IPv6 test lab, that Solaris 10 Update 4 has passed the phase I and phase II IPv6 readiness logo test. This means Solaris is ready for prime time in the IPv6 space. S10U4 will also have a DHCPv6 client, comprensive MIBv6 support as well as Duplicate Address Detection. This means Solaris is fully functional in an IPv6 environment. Initially it looked like the roll-out of IPv6 was going to be lead by a US government mandate. Now it seems like the media industry will be sprearheading this: There are several media customers who are craving for IPv6 now, not because of a random mandate, but simply because they are running out of IPv4 addresses in their networks. Who would have thougth? Go IPv6!!!
