Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:
The RetailEmail Index rose 4% to a new year-to-date high of 215 during the week ending April 18, and is up 4% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that the top 100 online retailers sent a bit more than 2.1 promotional emails each on average last week.
RetailEmail Participation Rates: Last week, 95% of the retailers in the RetailEmail Index sent out at least one promotional email, up from 94% the week prior, and up from 94% during the 4-weeks-ago period.
RetailEmail Seasonality Meter: While last year Tax Day itself was one of the top 20 retail email days of the year, this year it was April 14, the day before Tax Day, that was one of the most popular days of the year to send retail emails. In fact, it’s currently the second busiest retail email day of the year, right behind the day after Easter.
