Week-End Trends: Tax Day fails to provide lift

Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:

The Retail Email Index: Top online retailers sent each of their subscribers 2.6 promotional emails on average during the week ending Apr. 16, 2010. That’s down 2% week-over-week, down 7% from where it was four weeks ago, and up 12% year-over-year.

The Retail Email Participation Rate: Friday was the most popular day to send retail emails last week.

The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: In past years, especially when tax rebates were given to help stimulate the economy, Tax Day was one of the most popular retail email days of the year outside of the November and December. However, this year it wasn’t even the most popular retail email day of the week.
