Email activity and seasonal trends during the past week:
The Retail Email Index: The top online retailers sent each of their subscribers 3.5 promotional emails on average during the week ending Apr. 13, 2012. That’s down 1% week-over-week, flat with where it was four weeks ago, and up 7% year-over-year. As it has for the past several weeks, email volume has followed last year’s trajectory very closely and averaging a consistent 7% year-over-year gain.
The Retail Email Participation Rate: Friday was the most popular day to send retail emails last week.
The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: Between 6% and 8% of retail emails will include references to Earth Day this week, with even more including eco-friendly messaging. Mother’s Day messaging should also double or triple this week compared to last week’s levels.
