Week-End Trends: New all-time high driven by record Cyber Monday email volume

Email activity and seasonal trends during the past week:

The Retail Email Index: The top online retailers sent each of their subscribers 5.6 promotional emails on average during the week ending Dec. 2, 2011. That’s up 13% week-over-week, up 49% from where it was four weeks ago, and up 27% year-over-year.

The Retail Email Participation Rate: Monday, which was Cyber Monday, was the most popular day to send retail emails last week, this year and ever. This is the fifth consecutive year that Cyber Monday was the most popular day of the year to send retail email.

The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: Cyber Monday had a much larger presence this year—and not just on Monday. Many retailers extended their deals into Tuesday and beyond. For the week, 34% of retail emails mentioned Cyber Monday. During the equivalent week last year, only 20% of emails did.
