Email activity and promotional trends during the past week:
The Retail Email Index rose 4% to 201 during the week ending July 11, and is down 2% from where it was four weeks ago. The Index score indicates that the top 100 online retailers sent approximately 2 promotional emails each on average last week.
The Retail Email Participation Rate: Monday was the most popular day to send retail emails last week, surely getting a boost from the decreased volume on the 4th of July on Friday.
The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: After Independence Day references trailed off early in the week, retailers quickly shifted gears and began promoting back to school. In fact, the corresponding week last year saw a little more than half as many back-to-school references as this year.
Other things referenced by retailers: summer, fall, swim, outdoors, travel
