Week-End Trends: Another quiet week for seasonal messaging

Email activity and seasonal trends during the past week:

The Retail Email Index: The top online retailers sent each of their subscribers 2.9 promotional emails on average during the week ending Mar. 4, 2011. That’s down 2% week-over-week, up 1% from where it was four weeks ago, and up 14% year-over-year.

The Retail Email Participation Rate: Monday was the most popular day to send retail emails last week.

The Retail Email Seasonality Meter: The seasonal messaging lull that I mentioned in the last Week-End Trends was in full effect last week. That said, there was quite a bit of messaging around spring and spring break, plus a little around March Madness—none of which I formally track. This week will another quiet week and then the following week St. Patrick’s Day messaging will spike.
