Mobile is big. In fact, Nielsen
recently reported that more than half of all U.S. mobile subscribers owned smartphones during March 2012, up from 47.8 percent in December. The Apple App Store has over half-million apps available and all of this is available in your pocket, but how can marketers take advantage of this highly engaged audience?
To the right is a sample of an alert I received after downloading an app, and opening it for the first time. Once you click sign up, the app loads a form to submit. This is a great example of how to grow your list with a highly engaged, organic, mobile customer. If you are taking the time to develop a mobile app for customers to use to enhance their experience with your company, why not ask them to also sign up for exclusive email communications? You can even follow this up with a custom, mobile optimized welcome program to improve your customers experience with you. You might even want to show them the best features of your app! With all of these apps competing for space on the phone and screen real estate, are you taking full advantage of your audience's engagement with your app?
Do you have a mobile app? Are you taking advantage of your mobile app audience and capturing permission?
