The 13th Annual Markie Awards Winners!

On March 20, 2019, the 13th Annual Markie Awards took place in Las Vegas, Nevada and made history once again. 

For more than a decade, the Markie Awards, one of the most prestigious award shows in the industry, have celebrated the art and science of digital marketing. However, this year, the Markies evolved and broadened their scope to applaud brilliance beyond just marketing. Therefore, the 2019 Markies honored the creators and innovators of standout customer experiences across marketing, sales, service, and commerce.

Winners are determined by an aggregated vote score, and the voting process is fair, democratic, and anonymous. The pool of judges changes every year, and this year the judges included specialists, experts, and executives from both marketing and CX. Winners are chosen based upon who has the most compelling story, the metrics to back that up, and examples of how their story has made a difference. 

The 2019 Markies included:

The Apex Award for Best Overall Customer Experience

Many companies claim they're focused on the customer experience, but not everyone can show it.  This award went to a winner who architected a standout customer experience that shifted from driving transactions to building brand advocates. 

The winner – Panasonic (Computer Products Europe)










The Borderless Award for Best International Marketing Campaign

A single message can mean different things to different people, especially if they are spread out across different cities and countries. This Markie went to a company that achieved success in taking a national marketing campaign global.

The Cultivator Award for Best Lead Management Program

Marketers take customers through the maze of a buyer's funnel into the open arms of a ready and willing sales team. This Markie winner deserves a round of applause for crafting a lead management program with smart lead and account scoring that nurtures prospects, delivers dynamic results, and better aligns marketing and sales.

The Heartstrings People’s Choice Award

These video submissions tugged at voter's heartstrings. The best ones make you want to laugh, cheer, or even cry, and are marked by their unusual creativity, humor, or human-interest touches.

The Nexus Award for Best CX Ecosystem

Where does your brand end and your customer experience begin? You're not supposed to be able to tell. This winner masterfully built a connected CX ecosystem with CRM, third-party cloud apps, or API integration.

The Insight Award for Best Use of Data

Those who use data as their superpower to target, personalize, or pivot, and have seen impressive ROI as a result. This winner went above and beyond to use data for marketing, commerce, service, and sales in intriguing and ingenious ways.

The Omni Award for Best Omnichannel Experience (Marketing, Service, & Sales)

Some people fear the fragmented digital landscape but not you. Why? Because you deliver on the hyper-relevant, omni-channel experiences buyers demand. This Markie winner earned accolades by delivering on micromoments of inspiration and personalizing beautiful, end-to-end experiences.

The Pinpoint Award for Best Account-Based Marketing Strategy

Companies that use account-based marketing and marketing automation for precision and hyper-personalization stand out. This winner went even further by fusing account-specific intel, buyer personas, and intent data to reach prospects in ways that are entirely unique.

The Thinker Award for Best Innovation in CX (Sales)

You and your team don't settle for just good. You leverage technology and tools in a way that have never been done before and are delivering on commerce and sales experiences that show it. This winner strove for absolute greatness in how they leverage technology, brought teams together, and increased revenues.

Success in marketing calls for taking bold risks. This Markie overachiever shared how they used new technology or a never-seen-before approach to attract, interest, and engage an audience.

This winner took the tools at their disposal and achieved things they never could before with their service experiences.

The winner – City of Albuquerque, New Mexico 










The Upshot Award for Best Demonstrated ROI in Marketing

This winner excelled at finding opportunities where others see obstacles and capitalize on them without hesitation, all thanks to their creative and outstanding use of data. 

The winner – Bonnier News











The Upshot Award for Best Demonstrated ROI in Service and Sales

This Markie winner take measured risks when it came to service and sales, but they put their analytics insights to work and reaped astounding results. 

The winner – Kenya Revenue Authority 










The Convert Award for Best Commerce Experience

This winner created commerce experiences that gave more, such as powerhouse content, personalized recommendations, and websites tailored to customers' right-now needs. And it paid off by turning transactional customers into brand-loyal enthusiasts.
