What makes a good leader today? In a recent article in Entrepreneur, CEOs from what most would regard as “successful” technology companies – Zappos, LinkedIn, BET Television Network, Evernote and Insureon – shared the qualities, behaviors and actions they have woven into their business operations and team cultures. Because leadership and vision are two very important qualities for the growth and success of technology companies, we’re especially excited to announce that our own CEO Tim Brown has been named a winner of SmartCEO Magazine’s 2013 Future 50 Award!
Since joining us as CEO in May 2009, Tim has worked long and hard to flip the perception of customer experience optimization on its head. In the last four years, he’s invested his strategic vision, his passion, his weekend hours and his commitment to building top-notch products, technology and people.
Much like LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, Tim is known and respected as being the “constructive critic” and “takes time to acknowledge relatively small accomplishments by his employees.” He gets how important it is to hire, build and trust in the smarts and capabilities of the team. And being able to say (or write an email) something as simple as “Great job!” or “This is moving in the right direction and I’d love to share my notes on how we can make it fantastic” is what continually motivates our teams.
The Entrepreneur article also shares a few leadership traits of BET television network’s co-founder Sheila Johnson. Similar to her “team player” qualities, Tim encourages employees to take responsibility for their choices and to act with humility and has fostered a culture where individual efforts are never bigger than the group. From all of us at Maxymiser here in New York City and abroad, we congratulate Tim for going above and beyond to lead us towards innovation, growth and success.
The award recognizes the New York area’s fastest-growing mid-sized companies and four large “blue chip” companies, who have continued on a path of growth. With the 2013 Future 50 winners collectively generating $2.1 billion in annual revenue and employing over 15,333 individuals in Greater New York, our CEO Tim Brown is in impressive company. The winners will be celebrated at a black-tie gala, co-hosted by Barclays, on November 25th in New York City.
