Email marketing: The Weekly Inbox volume 20 (Valentine's Day edition)

The Weekly Inbox is a collection of email marketing messages from across the retail, travel/hospitality and financial services industries that caught my eye for being clever, forward thinking, creative or just plain awesome.

Welcome back to the next installment of The Weekly Inbox.

Today is of course Valentine's Day. Love is in the air, although if you live in the eastern part of the U.S. it is more than likely covered in snow. And speaking of love, if you're wondering if your customer loves you, take our love quiz to find out.

Here’s some Valentine's Day themed and/or related emails that caught my eye this past week.

Dream on

I love this email (which is in two separate images to allow for maximum exposure) from Lane Bryant. The subject line "Dreaming of Surf and Sand? So Are We" resonated with me more than you could possibly know. Living in Philly with all that snow and...

But I digress. I love the imagery, bold headlines and the perfect tie-ins with Valentine's Day including offering me the option of sending an e-card.


Running out of time

Two days before the big day, Harry & David sent me the email below with the subject line "There's still time to get free shipping and impress your valentine." Perfect subject line for those like me who forget, well pretty much every important date. The heavenly imagery with the simple, direct headline brings it all together very nicely and makes me quite hungry.


Running out of time - Part II

Another retail brand who was kind of to remind me of the urgency to do something, anything for Valentine's Day was Zales, who sent me this email yesterday with the subject line "Order by 4 PM ET Today for Guaranteed Valentine'​s Delivery!"

Now even someone like me could grasp this concept, so I very much liked the simple, direct subject line as well as the contrasting imagery with just enough copy to draw me in.


Running out of time - Part III

One last email to share, remindeing me that time was of the essence. This email below, from Whole Foods Market, arrived in my Inbox on February 10th with the subject line "3 Days Left: Reserve the Best by February 13th, 12pm." I love the "Blooms With Benefits!" line and love that they did not try to sell me anything else in the email — just roses.


 A breath of fresh air

Getting an early start on Valentine's Day was Williams-Sonoma who sent me this email back on February 7th with the subject line of "Love (and Savings) are in the Air." Love the "Sweet Savings Worth Sharing!" line and of course the quite delectable imagery, too.
