And The Markie Goes To ...

I have the privilege of working on a daily basis with some fantastic Eloqua customers. I’m constantly amazed by the creative ways they find to use our platform to automate processes, make their organizations more efficient and effective.  These success stories energize me throughout the year, but the grand culmination of this feeling happens during the Markie Awards ceremony. When one of my customers gets to walk up on stage and accept their Markie statue, I’ll admit, I get choked up.

All of us love to be rewarded and recognized for our work and I’m so proud to work for a company that does this for our customers on such a grand scale. Each year at our Eloqua Experience global user conference we spend an evening celebrating our customers’ achievements at a dinner and awards ceremony to hand out these prestigious Markie Awards recognizing excellence in marketing. It’s a little bit like our own version of the Oscars, complete with our emcee (CEO Joe Payne) in a tuxedo.

Did you know that the Markie statue was designed by the same company the designed the Emmy Award? And did you know that it weighs a whopping 25 pounds? This is some serious hardware that looks great on your company’s trophy wall, or – if you can manage it – fantastic on your desk.  But more than the hardware, it’s the celebration of hard work and measurable results. It’s that shining moment when all of the slogging for the last year fades away and you can revel in the fact that you did something that made a difference.

There are twenty categories this year that cover a wide range of marketing disciplines. There truly is one that will fit you – take a look.  From “Marketing and Sales BFF” (so much more fun than Sales and Marketing Alignment) to “One View of the Truth”, from “Extraordinary Email” to “Marketing Center of Excellence” we have awards that look at the results of a single campaign, and some that take at least a year of effort to master. Our Markie finalists will also have the chance to share their stories with their peers at special tracks and events throughout Eloqua Experience.

The deadline for entering a submission is July 30 and that’s when our fun begins at Eloqua. It’s a blast to read through all of the incredible stories and results we receive. I think that one of the hardest parts of the process lies in the hands of the judging panel who must pick among so many worthwhile entries.  This year that panel includes a distinguished group of experts from our advisory board who will select the ultimate winners.
