Struggling to stand out in a crowded inbox during the holiday season? Even though Black Friday is one week away, it’s not too late to make an impact. Here are five tactics that can add some holiday flair to your existing email marketing campaigns:
1) Add a holiday theme
Customers expect holiday deals and discounts. Add some holiday cues in the navigation and recovery areas of your next promotional email to make your message special, even if the sale isn’t holiday-related.
2) Follow mobile best practices
This infographic from Sparked estimates that mobile retail sales will reach $34.2 billion this year. Make sure your message can be read on any device by using large fonts, making text scannable, and leaving plenty of space around calls-to-action (or making whole sections touch-friendly).
3) Don’t be shy about free shipping
If you’re offering free shipping, make it prominent. According to MarketLive’s annual holiday survey, 91% of shoppers will take advantage of free shipping this holiday season while 31% will pay full price for an item if they get free shipping.
4) Feature your store locations
Add the nearest store location in a prominent spot in the header to encourage in-store and online shopping in the same message. If you offer the option to buy or reserve online and pick up in store, make it one of your top messaging priorities – 72% of shoppers say this feature is “most” or “second-most” important to them.
5) Send a goodwill message
Connect with your customers without selling to them. Send a “thank you” or greeting to remind your customers why they’re loyal to your brand in the first place.
