AM Inbox: Raising the commitment bar on sweepstakes

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

Victoria’s Secret, 1/27 — Share the Love! Create Your Own VS Valentine.‏
Although there’s certainly been improvement, your typical sweepstakes asks very little of participants, which is why they often attract treasure-seekers with little attachment to the brand running the sweeps. The Victoria’s Secret sweepstakes promoted in this email ups the ante. Not only does the VS Valentine create a well-branded experience, it asks the entrant to bring someone else into the experience. In essence, the sweeps rewards subscribers and other entrants for spreading their brand message to their significant other.
