The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:
Linens-N-Things, 3/15 — 3.99 Bath Towels | 7.99 Window Hardware
In a recent Email Insider column, I called out landing page disconnects as a major hotspot for email errors. If there’s not a smooth transition from email to landing page, then you’re seriously hampering conversions. It’s extremely difficult to gauge the extent of the problem, but what I find anecdotally is alarming. For instance, in this Linens-N-Things email, in the secondary message block that I include below, only 5 of the 16 product images linked to the correct product pages. Some linked to other products featured in the email and some linked to ones not included in the email at all. Regardless, this quality assurance breakdown forces subscribers to work much harder to find out more about or to purchase the products promoted here. Good QA is good customer service.
