AM Inbox: More retailers pushing for updated preferences

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

Gap, 9/2 — New: Limited Edition European Collection
Gap uses a preview pane banner to ask subscribers to update their preferences. While not a permanent addition at the top of the email like Overstock’s “update preferences” link (see Aug. 19 AM Inbox), it’s another example of a retailer recognizing that accurate and up to date preferences are a major tool in creating relevancy for subscribers. With the holidays right around the corner, now is a great time to make sure that you are armed with up to date data on how to best please your subscribers.

Hallmark, 9/2 — Lots of easy ways to rock someone's special day
Hallmark also includes a call to update your preferences, although it’s buried at the bottom of this email, which includes a teaser for the release of Christmas ornaments in October.
