AM Inbox: I love super-fans

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

Lands’ End, 2/14 — Dear Lands' End: A Valentine from Arlene D.
I’ve highlighted how J. Jill has used comments on Facebook regarding products to promote them in emails in the same way that retailers have used product reviews for years (see Feb. 9 AM Inbox). Well, in this email, Lands’ End takes this idea one step further, sharing an effusive virtual love letter they received via Facebook. Giving your customers a voice in your marketing efforts lends credibility to your message—even when it’s the voice of a super-fan like Arlene, who does a fantastic job of articulating Lands’ End brand strengths and differentiators. Always be on the lookout for great amateur copywriters like Arlene.
