AM Inbox: Employee of the month

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

Urban Outfitters, 4/19 — What's New? Over 200 Things!
Perhaps it’s just me, but nothing makes a company seem small and approachable than bringing staffers forward as Urban Outfitters does in this email where they highlight the employee of the month, complete with an interview and product picks. It’s similar to what Backcountry does when they hire new people (see Jan. 22 AM Inbox). It definitely says something when you’re confident enough to laud your employees publicly like this.

OfficeMax, 4/19 — 2-Day Online-Only Deals + Look for New Deals Every 2 Days
Office Max has launched a series of 2-day deals that’s similar to, but less frequent than Newegg’s Shell Shocker deals (see Apr. 5 AM Inbox). While the slower pace is less urgent and gives customers fewer products to choose from, having more time to take advantage of deals may work better for OfficeMax’s subscribers.
