During the holiday season, retailers used holiday-themed header designs, seasonal navigation bars or links, countdowns, gift services footers and other tactics to indicate to subscribers that it was time to shop for gifts. All of these tactics can be applied to other holidays as well. In this email, Frederick’s of Hollywood includes a “Valentines” link in their navigation bar to promote their Valentine’s Day collection. Determine the design elements that performed for you during the holiday season and extend those to other selling seasons.
Sony, 1/5 — CES 2011 EXCLUSIVE Be the first to see NEW PRODUCTS From Sony
For the fourth year running, Sony has sent an email dedicated to CES and the new products that they’re debuting at the show. These emails give an editorial/news angle to promotional content. Clearly this approach is performing for them since they continue to send these emails year after year. See the Jan. 8, 2010 AM Inbox for examples of their other CES-focused emails.
