AM Inbox: Do not even try to click on this email

>>2011 Halls of Fame: Oopsy Hall of Fame and Subject Line Hall of Fame

The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:

Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1/27 — Save More In-Store: Find a Great Deal on Cold Weather Gear
One of my pet peeves is clicking in an email and discovering that an image isn’t clickable or that text isn’t clickable. If I have to mouse around to find a clickable item, I feel like the retailer is making me work too hard to give them business. So I was ticked and confused when I discovered that nothing in the primary message of this Dick’s Sporting Goods email was clickable. There was no way to view clearance items online to do research and no store locator call-to-action. The last email I can recall getting that didn’t include a clickable primary message was Circuit City’s emails when the liquidators had taken over (see Feb. 2, 2009 AM Inbox).
