>>I’m on vacation the rest of the week. I’ll be back in action on Monday.
The Retail Email Blog monitors the email marketing campaigns of more than 100 top online retailers. Here are highlights from my inbox this morning:
Chadwick’s, 8/8 — Special Bulletin: Our apologies and a limited-time offer!
It’s a bit of an insider secret that apology emails often generate the highest open rates of all promotional emails. Chadwick’s might be using that to their advantage with this non-traditional apology email. Chadwick’s has issued several apology emails in the past (see Jan. 28 AM Inbox, Nov. 5 AM Inbox and Oct. 1 AM Inbox), but they were always for site performance issues. In this case, they’re simply apologizing for running out of a limited quantity free gift promotion. It’s good to see them trying to get some more mileage out of that promotion, but they may not want to overdo it. For more on apology emails, check out When and How to Say You’re Sorry.
Circuit City, 8/10 — Outlet Blowout--up to 60% off TVs, laptops, GPS & more
At eTail last week, there was a lot of talk about triggered emails and how they far outperformed promotional emails for some retailers (see Takeaways from eTail). It looks like Circuit City, which had a few people in attendance, took that note of that and in this email is trying to get more subscribers to sign up for triggered birthday emails.
Dell, 8/10 — You're Invited...
Using a very generic, spammy subject line, Dell announces the launch of Dell Perks, a new personalized shopping program.
eBags, 8/7 — It's back: Private Sale Event + Free shipping through Monday
While retailers have been mentioning high gas prices for weeks now, this is the first time that a retailer has mentioned the R-word: recession.
Cooking.com, 8/8 — Rebates and Bonus Offers from Cuisinart and KitchenAid + Shipping
Cooking.com announces a new look for their website. That new look is not yet reflected in the design of their emails.
Walgreens, 8/10 — Weekly Ad Savings, Coupons & Bonus Offers
Walgreens announces the launch of an online pet store.
