ZFS For Best Import Rates With DSEE 7

Download DSEE free of charge Wajih Ahmed writes in his blog entry from yesterday on Improving DSEE7 Import Rate Through ZFS Caching about how good a file system ZFS can be for Directory, and how to tune your pool when you have a lot of entries to import from LDIF. Wajih finds the primary cache to be very important to speeding up import. In his blog he describes how he tuned ZFS for best performance, including an appendix with all the nitty gritty details.

Also check out Brad Diggs's related entry, http://www.thezonemanager.com/2010/01/dsee-import-rate-improvements-through.html.

Brad observed some pretty major boosts in performance when activating primary cache with DS and OpenDS.
