Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 Release Notes

The Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 Release Notes are now back online.

Comments:

Thanks for all of the great work on DS and Open DS! You guys rock, and I can't wait to use the DSCC and the CLI tools instead of the admin console from DS5 (yuk!). Any timeframe for the Release Notes to be available again? I'm in the middle of an install on Solaris 10 6/06, and I can't proceed without knowing what I need to upgrade (parts of the web console, I think??) to get DS6 installed. I think it is a conspiracy against me to prevent me from installing this stuff... :)

If you are upgrading from DS 5 bundled in the Solaris Operating System, you will need to upgrade everything, and migrate your data. A good place to start is the vrsion 6 Migration Guide, http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-0994 In there you will find the order of the steps, and a table explaining that at least from 5.2, you may be able to use the tools for part of the migration, http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-0994/6n3cp4q54?a=view Notice also that if you use DSEE 6.1, you can initially install everything from .zip packaging (that is, as non-root where ever you have rights on the local file system) to try things out before you make the switch.
