Not A Bad Week So Far

That is what my staff has been saying. Since I was in customer meetings all day Monday and John Fowler's leadership meeting all day Tuesday and Wednesday they have received precious little email from me. They must not know what to do with all their spare time. I expect they all read the IDC Server Market Share results announced today. I think Fowler must have planned his leadership meeting around the IDC publication date. It worked. With all the PR around the IDC results, what some might have missed was the public debut of details about our upcoming Niagara 2 processor. Sixty four threads in one die, with each of the chip's eight cores having its own floating point unit, plus two built in 10 Gb ethernet ports and an encryption engine that can handle a widely expanded set of protocols. Forget server on a chip, this is more like web farm on a chip.
