Sun Ray 3 and 3i Announcements

In case you missed it, Oracle announced the new Sun Ray 3 and Sun Ray 3i products at Oracle Open World recently.  These are the next logical evolution to the Sun Ray 2 and Sun Ray 270.

The Sun Ray 3i is the new integrated Sun Ray featuring a 1920 x 1080 display, smarted reader front and center, two USB 2.0 ports on the side and two more on the back, Serial port, VGA out and Gbit ethernet.  The stand you can see in the image comes off and the device can be mounted on a wall or reticulating arm, commonly seen in hospitals and higher education. There is an excellent set of drawings on the cabling for the device in the SR 3i Client Getting Started Guide. The Datasheet on the 3i is here. The best part about the 3i is that it gives you more screen, better power consumption control with the auto-sleep functionality, if much more recyclable and the same price as the SR 270.  More for no increase in price.

The Sun Ray 3 is along the same lines in that it is the same price as the SR 2 was, but 5 USB 2.0 ports instead of 2 USB ports, and larger resolution - now 1920 x 1200. Also you get Gbit ethernet now and a larger area around the smart card reader lights up when the card is inserted properly (chip to the right or chip to the left) providing a great visual queue for users.  Still USB and audio ports easily accessible on the front of the device.  Datasheet on the Sun Ray 3 is here and the Getting Started Guide for the Sun Ray 3 is  also really well done.
