Hi, here is another question - will a plugin be made available that will work on MSOffice for Mac osX? Or can this plug in be made to work on OSX? I'll change to Ooo when a native version is available, but for not it would be great to change file format! cheers, nathan

Sorry, no concrete plans for a MAC version right now...

I realize this is old, but has anything for OSX been developed at this time? I've been scouring for a while now and I don't see anything.

I -do- see that NeoOffice has the plug-in available, however I am unsure as to whether or not the plug-in is compatible with standard Open Office?

Kenneth,

not sure what exactly you are talking about.

Seems you are just looking for an ODF application on the Mac, not for a Plugin for MS Office on Mac.

If so, simply use OpenOffice.org.

Malte,

Like so many other people, I am trying to shed the Microsoft shackles !! I am migrating my work to openSUSE 11.0 with OpenOffice 3.0. All systems updated as at today (24 Jan 09).

I have been asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and so have been working with OO Impress. The animations I have created under Impress don't work in the presentation when saved as a .ppt for Office 2000. I found the ODF plugin for MS Office and duly installed it on my WinXP Home system. Installed OK, however the "promised" Import/Export toolbar did not appear in Powerpoint. I experimented and installed the plugin as an addin - seemed to go OK, but did not appear as an installed addin, and still no toolbar.

Opened a .odp file from OO 3.0 in PowerPoint, the plugin loaded, and got the message that the presentation was created in a later version, search for updates. Did that, obviously no updates were available as this is the latest version. Problem solved by copying the supplied msvcr71.dll into C:\\Windows\\system32. However, now get a message "PowerPoint can't read the outline from <file>. No text converter is installed for this file type." I notice that a file "textconverter.dll" is supplied with the plugin, tried copying that to a couple of system folders, but no luck.

Have researched the issue pretty solidly on the net, but can't find any joy. Can you please help?

Thanks,

Rod.

Malte,

Re my comment posted earlier today (24 Jan 09).

Apologies, the PowerPoint version I am using is PowerPoint 97. So I guess this question is not valid as the plugin supports Office200 and above. Sory if this has been a waste of your time.

Hi nathan,

seems you don't need the Plugin - a native Mac OSX version of OOo is available since OOo version 3.0 ;)
