Training Thursdays: Simplified Ksplice Implementation in Oracle Linux Training

The implementation of Ksplice has been greatly simplified. Now you just need to register your system(s) with Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN), subscribe to the appropriate Ksplice channel, use the yum command to install the uptrack package, and perform any custom configuration. Your systems will be automatically updated with the latest kernel and user space patches.

You can learn about Ksplice and much more by taking the Oracle Linux 7: System Administration training. This course is available as a:

Training Thursdays: Advance Your Linux Knowledge with Hands-On Experience

The great hands-on experience you get in Oracle Linux courses is the best way to reinforce Linux administration concepts and techniques.

For example, the Oracle Linux 7: System Administration course builds your expertise through exercises including using diverse file systems, and doing storage and security administration. This course also teaches you troubleshooting techniques with examples including boot and NFS.

The Oracle Linux 7: Advanced Administration course guides you through concepts and confirms your learning via extensive hands-on practices. You will configure network services and authentication services, configure network storage, shared file system types, and device multipathing. You will also configure different virtualization technologies to better utilize system resources such as CPU, memory, network and I/O bandwidth, and to allocate these system resources to critical processes.

You can take these courses as live-virtual events, attending a live event from your own desk, and so avoiding travel costs, or you can travel to an in-class event. Below is a selection of the live-virtual and in-class events on the schedule for the two course titles.

Training Thursdays: Get Trained on Docker and Oracle Linux

Docker is an open platform management tool for Linux Containers. It provides a means for developers and system administrators to build and package applications into lightweight containers. The container is independent from the host operating system and kernel version. As a result, you can run the same application, unchanged, on laptops, data center virtual machines, and any cloud. You can transfer this container to another machine that runs Docker and run the application without any compatibility issues. The following lists additional advantages of running applications within Docker containers:

  • Docker images contain only the content needed to run an application so they are smaller than virtual machines, which require the entire operating system.
  • A Docker container runs faster than an application that includes the overhead of an entire virtual machine.
  • A Docker container includes its own network interfaces, file system, and memory, which allows the application running in the container to be isolated and secured from other processes on the host computer.

You can learn to use Docker with Oracle Linux, as well as learn about many other topics, by taking the Oracle Linux 7: Advanced Administration course. You can take this course as a:
