Oracle is pleased to announce that Oracle Linux 8.5 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Release 6 recently received IPv6 Ready Logo accreditation and is listed in the USGv6-r1 Product Registry.

The testing was completed at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing facility for the IPv6 Ready Logo Program and the USGv6 Test Program. These IPv6 testing programs increase customer confidence by demonstrating that IPv6 is currently available for Oracle Linux deployment and use.

The IPv6 Ready Logo Program is a conformance and interoperability testing program from the IPv6 Forum. By carrying the IPv6 Ready Logo, customers can be confident that Oracle Linux 8.5 with UEK Release 6 Update 3 is compatible for use in IPv6 environments. Oracle Linux 8.5 with UEK Release 6 Update 3 achieved IPv6 Ready Phase 2 (Gold) Core Logo for Host.

USGv6 standards

The USGv6 standards profile was developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop the technical infrastructure for standards and testing to support the wide-scale adoption of IPv6 in the United States Government. The current USGv6 Revision 1 (USGv6-r1) profile was published by NIST in 2020. USGv6 is used as the basis for US Governmental agency plans and acquisition policies. The US Government has a mandate to move towards IPv6-only network environments; by the end of Fiscal Year 2025 at least 80% of networked Federal systems must be on an IPv6-only network. Other private and public agencies are likely to track what the US Government does, so IPv6-only networks could proliferate over time.

To that end, one of the new testing suites under the USGv6-r1 profile is for IPv6-only. Oracle Linux is the first Enterprise Linux Host that passed IPv6-Only Functional v1.1 (34687). Review the USGv6 Profile Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) for details.
