The Kubernetes module for the Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment includes multiple storage class provisioners which allow the dynamic creation of storage volumes. Administrators can automate the fulfillment of developers' persistent volume claims instead of having to manually declare individual storage objects. As volumes are created with the appropriate class of storage (NVMe/SSD/SATA) and exactly the size requested, allocation of storage and overall utilization becomes more efficient.
Gluster provides a scalable, distributed file system that aggregates disk storage resources from multiple servers and Gluster Storage Release 5 for Oracle Linux 7 includes Heketi, a RESTful Gluster volume lifecycle manager. The open nature of Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment allows us to easily integrate the two products with the Kubernetes module managing Gluster volumes through Heketi.
A new hands-on lab Using Gluster with Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment is now available for anyone to learn more about dynamically creating Gluster volumes to fulfill Kubernetes persistent volume claims.
Support for Oracle Linux Cloud Native Environment and Gluster Storage Release 5 is available to customers with an Oracle Linux Premier support subscription.
