The T10 PI data integrity demonstration features the Fusion ION Data
Accelerator shared storage solution with Oracle Linux and Emulex Gen 5 FC HBAs. The demonstration incorporates Oracle
Linux with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, which supports integrity features
that leverage the T10 PI specification.
The data integrity testing was conducted by inserting corrupt data into the system and verifying that despite the insertions, data integrity on ION Data Accelerator was not compromised. Using the T10 PI specification, data corruption is noticed and fixed as it is written to shared storage, helping ensure reliability for enterprise applications. The demonstration incorporates Oracle Linux with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, which supports integrity features that leverage the T10 PI specification. Additional technical details about the T10 PI reliability demo are available here.
Live demonstration of
the Data integrity solution is being featured at Fusion-io booth 1127 during Oracle OpenWorld
2013 in San Francisco from September 22-26. Read the press release.

Oracle is sponsoring LinuxCon North America, we love the vibe in New Orleans and hope you can visit our booth or attend one of our sessions.
LinuxCon is the place to learn from the best and the brightest, delivering content from the leading maintainers, developers and project leads in the Linux community and from around the world. There's simply no other event in North America where developers, sys admins, architects and all types and levels of technical talent gather together under one roof for education, collaboration and problem-solving to further the Linux platform.
Looking for deep technical content? LinuxCon North America has teamed up with the Linux Plumbers Conference on a shared track, offering even the highest level developers the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on core development. Oracle is also sponsoring this event.
We also have a booth in the Technology Showcase area and will be demonstrating Oracle Linux, Ksplice and MySQL. Stop by to talk to our Linux experts and grab Oracle Linux and Oracle VM DVD Kit for free. We are participating in Goose Chase so make sure to complete your mission in our booth to get the prizes offered by Linux Foundation.
This presentation is about using kernel code in userspace. The presentation will revolve about sharing actual kernel code beyond just headers with userspace, the pros and cons of doing so, and present work in progress of projects which aim to make it happen. I will demonstrate existing projects such as liblockdep which build userspace libraries from kernel code, and propose directions for future work. The presentation will also address the resentment of including userspace code in the kernel tree and will propose alternatives to that.
The target audience is quite wide as the presentation is aimed both at kernel and userspace hackers. The audience can expect both theoretical overview about how to use kernel code in userspace and practical examples of doing so. The presentation will provide tools and methods to use more kernel code in userspace and will clearly show the benefit of doing so.
2) PC BIOS, EFI and Other wild animals in the Wild - Speaker: Daniel Kiper, Oracle
Tuesday September 17, 2013 5:10pm - 6:00pm
Room: Celestin A
Firmware is crucial part of almost every hardware. Very often it is not visible to the user. However, there are firmwares which are known better than the others. Especially PC BIOS and recently EFI is quite visible. There are also some replacements for them like coreboot which takes more and more supporters. This presentation will show a history of their development, main features and differences. Also, it will show how to test some of them without access to the special hardware and uncommon tools.
This presentation is targeted to developers and administrators. They should know the machine boot sequence, when firmware is involved during the system startup and run as well as when its code is deliberately omitted. It will help them to understand the main PC BIOS, EFI and coreboot features and drawbacks.
This week, we would like to highlight the Oracle Linux and Virtualization Pavilion where Oracle Linux andOracle VM partners will showcase their products that leverage Oracle Linux and Oracle VM, thus offering a complete value-added solution to customers, as more and more of enterprise customers adopt Linux and Virtualization. Getting Started with Linux Containers on Oracle Linux (HOL10019)
Linux Containers (LXC) allow you to run multiple isolated Linux instances (containers) on the same host. A container is a way to isolate a group of processes from the others on a running Linux system that does not require you to set up a virtual machine on an emulation of physical hardware. This hands-on session gives you the basics of working with LXC on Oracle Linux; installing and configuring required software packages; setting up a Btrfs volume for the container storage; configuring, starting, and logging in to a container; changing a container's network configuration; limiting a container's resource usage (network/disk I/O); cloning an existing container; and monitoring and shutting down containers.
Oracle Linux Package and Patch Management Solutions (HOL10147)
In this session, you will learn how to implement and work with various patch management features of Oracle Linux. This includes working with the yum package manager and getting hands-on experience in obtaining more information on security errata using the security plug-in. The yum snapshot plug-in and the Btrfs file system are used to demonstrate how you can roll back package updates to a previous state. The session also covers creating a local yum repository and how to connect this repository to Oracle Enterprise Manager. In addition, you will learn about the Ksplice service and have the opportunity to install and configure the Ksplice offline client for applying kernel updates to your system with zero downtime.
Visit our demopod to receive a Oracle Linux and Oracle VM DVD Kit and other goodies. You can plan your visit in the Openworld Schedule Builder and also bookmark Focus on Linux website to see when Oracle Linux events are happening.
We look forward to seeing you in Moscone South demogrounds and hands-on labs.
