Hidden Properties and Offline Content Manager in Desktop Integration Suite

In the Advanced section, one of the things you can turn on is the "Use WebDAV URL when opening files with the following extensions:". What this means is that interacting with documents with those particular extensions will behave as if you were working through standard WebDAV compliant folders in Explorer. The most noticeable difference in behavior is when you are closing a document. In standard DIS behavior, if you were modifying a file and closed it, you would need to right-click on the document and choose to check it in to create the new version. Otherwise, the document will remain checked out and the changes will only be stored in your local client cache. But if you switch to the WebDAV behavior, closing the document will cause the document to immediately check in the new revision.
Another interesting setting is the "Make 'Open' the default file action, not 'View'. This means that if you double-click on a file to open it, it will perform a check-out action prior to opening it. So that document becomes immediately available for modifying. The default behavior with 'View' is to open the document in a read-only view.
Depending how how users use DIS, one of these setting changes may prove helpful.
Along with Properties, another nice hidden feature is the Offline Content Manager. This dialog gives you a single view into all of the documents you've syndicated or checked out through DIS. Here you can quickly check the status of any syndicated content you've had offline to see if it's out of date and needs to be refreshed. Or if you have a large number of documents you've changed offline and are now back online, you can quickly check them back in here. Then you don't have to browse the different locations to get to them all.
