Hola, all my blog readers. I could imagine lot of you have a question why I have stopped blogging. The answer is really simple instead of fact I had lot of stuff to share. I guess this will be one of my the last blog posts here.
Now I'm inteding to share success of my team we had in Europe. Maybe this is also reason why I'm going to leave company in next months. Several people couldn't enjoy our success. Anyway this is a speculation maybe the reason is different
I know that I did mention most of time about GeeCON conference. This conferece is only part of activities I did in Europe but this conferece has defititely very positive business impact to SUN technologies. I saw data I couldn't share here (reason is logical). By other activities I mean coopartion with my team members, universities and local sun offices. I'll blog about in next posts. Now I have to attend important meeting about SUN business. See you than ...
GeeCON is over so now it's time to inform the world about our run. We are still working on after promotion. We got lof of gigabytes of pictures and videos. Not easy to sort all of them out but more information are coming soon.
My current message to the world is that we reach our goals, like international team! We had almost 400 developers, 23 sessions (2 days x 2 tracks) and great
organizers. Let's look throught our GeeCON Organizers Team . All of them form JUGs (not only from Poland!):
Polish JUG, Poznan JUG and guys from Chech JUG.
Now you know our GeeCON team and what about participans ? It's very good to mention that we reached also this goal! We were international. GeeCON covered following european countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria,
Germany, Ireland, UK, Switzerland and France.
Survey we did was very positive -> We did something unique it's a GeeCON and now we are moving to the next year. GeeCON was a incredible experience and chance to meet with great world speakers. Everyone was satisfied because lot of new friendships came into being I want to also mention GeeCON University day supported by Sun Learning Services. It was really great !
GeeCON will start soon. We had GeeCON University Training yesterday as you know. I'll blog about later. What I could say at this moment. I got only very positive feedback from all participants. Every training was sold out. Cool! We got the first point. Now we are before GeeCON Conference start.
We are very busy and under time stress. I'm sending you several images from the place ( Cinema ). See you at GeeCON!
Sorry for bad quality no time to use camera and my mobile is not so good for
I think it's good to mention now before. During my work I'm in touch with lot of professors from various universities over Europe. I'm glad that quite all of them are excited by GeeCON. Only little doubt they are having about planed time (Economical crisis). I think it could be true but Economical crisis doesn't mean that Communities are going to stop. Now it's seems GeeCON is going to be very successful. Good sign for all. I know that lot of work is behind and our GeeCON team is working pretty much last days to cover every bugs but in general we are doing very well. Our team is great. Now we have GeeCON Bus, GeeCON university, Facebook or LinkedIn groups. We are replying lot of emails and we have attendants ...
What to say in the end ?
JUST SEE YOU THERE in Cracow !
PS: this is not only professor's opinion this is only name of my post.
I want to promote GeeCON Bus organized
by JSUG Group again. Progress looks very nice . By doing
promo to this possibility we want to involve more people
. I have still awareness about those who are interesting in this
possibility. It would be cool to connect them before because
GeeCON event is community driven. As I spoke to my friends from
Hungary It's much easier for them to go from Vienna. For more
details just have a look at JSUG main site and try to cooperate with
Time is running and GeeCON is knocking
at the doors. GeeCONUniversity is going to
start at May 6. This week we have increased family of out media
partners. New member became to be the main JAVA portal in CzechRepublic.
It's Java.cz ! You can say hello to Java. cz and have a look there
Java portál\* is an open internet portal that serves
the Czech community of users of Java and related technologies . Anyone can register there and share his opinion with other people interested in Java by posting articles, news or links to interesting resources. This portal also closely cooperates with the Czech Java User Group and contains podcasts
from CZJUG-organized seminars.
I have very great news for all from Vienna in Austria. Guys from Die Java Student User Group planned to come. We have it confirmed and nowadays they are working on it's organization. When they started to thing about they had in their minds something like GeeCON Bus. They share this idea with us. This idea is amazing because there is no other conference with having similar thing. This fact only showing that GeeCON is really community driven conference. We hope that there are going to be lot of attendants from Austria to cover whole bus. But there is also possibility to travel by GeeCON train but GeeCON bus is much nicer. We all are crossing fingers for success. Not it seems we found sponsors for this bus, but we will see. I sent an email also to Brno univeristy but I still don't have any response because Vienna is not so far from Brno.
During GeeCON introduction at CZJUG meeting I did mention lot of advantages for student but of course GeeCON is focus on Java developers, enthusiasts and companies in similar way Just have a look at http://www.geecon.org and find out all possibilities. Also I have badly news for today. GeeCON web is not working because an unexpected issues with our provider.
Another nice news is that guys from Austria are inteding to manage GeeCON bus from Vienna to Cracow Just join our facebook or linkedin group to find out more about.
was for me really nice instead of discussion in the pub after its end, of
course . One of the topics was Apache Wicket. I didn’t know about Wicket
before but presentation was impressive and explanation too (done by Jiří
Hradil). After this little introduction to problematic my curiosity
about has increased so much that I started to read book Wicket in Action early
today. Other presentation was done by very good speaker too (Vaclav Pech from
JetBrains). Valcav introduced Grails in very nice light. Vaclav Pech is also one of our GeeCON Star Speaker similar to Jakub Podlesak and Lubos Petrik from Czech Republic.
Now I want to focus more on
Apeche wicket. I guess presentation about Wicket could be done also by
experienced Ambassadors because it's quite easy to understand. It could also improve
theirs effort in even OSUM creating.
I guess it sound nice. But
what does it really mean? Wicket, on the other hand, is closely patterned after
stateful GUI frameworks such as Swing.
Wicket applications are trees of components,
which use listener delegates to react to HTTP requests
against links and forms in the same way that Swing components react to mouse
and keystroke events. I think the part of text where is mentioned trees of
components is very important to remember.
Wicket uses plain XHTML for templating
(which enforces a clear separation of presentation and business
logic and allows templates to be edited with conventional WYSIWYG design
Each component is bound to a named element in the XHTML and becomes
responsible for rendering that element in the final output. The page is
simply the top-level containing component and is paired with exactly one XHTML template.
Reuseable parts of pages may be abstracted into components called panels,
which can then be pulled whole into pages or other panels with a special tag.
Each component is backed by
its own model, which represents the state of the component. The framework does
not have knowledge of how components interact with their models, which are
treated as opaque
objects automatically serialized and persisted between requests. More complex models,
however, may be made detachable and provide hooks
to arrange their own storage and restoration at the beginning and end of each
request cycle. Wicket does not mandate any particular object-persistence or ORM layer, so applications often use some
combination of Hibernate objects, EJB beans or POJOs as models.
I guess now it is more clear
what is going on. Let’s take a closer look at short example. I'm not inteding to create any redundancy in this case so there is the link to Geertjan's Blog. Another nice example you can find on Wikipedia too. Only my advice is to keep in your mind class Application, it very important .
I did the last post about
GeeCON progress week ago. During this time lot of things happen. I am going to
start with announcement about our sponsors. SUN is now Platinum sponsor of this
conference which is very good sign for whole region. Special thanks belong to
all people involved in. The list is very long (Reggie, Aaron, Raoul, Jim, Matt, Radek, Adrian, Me ,
Pavel, Agatha ... and many others ). We are still under the negotiation
with others companies. It means that the list is still now full. Our current sponsors
are SUN, Spring Source, Adobe, Google, JetBrains
also to pre-announce training sessions during whole conference and the training
day one day before the conference. But whole GeeCON team is still working to
finalize all these possibilities. There is plan to have discounts for
certification exams and much more others. So let it be as surprise for the next
post I guess training day could be very nice opportunity for companies to increase
There are lots of reasons
to be registered before the conference. Here is one of them everybody could
win IntelliJ IDEA licence. Second is that we can do better plan for all
attendances. The third is that it is cheaper
Now we have also our GeeCON
groups on facebook and LinkedIn. You could also register there to get more information
about Krakow and planed flow of conference. See you there!
