OpenOffice Writer to Wiki Converter

As noted in an earlier blog entry, I was at a Gartner conference this week, and I attempted to take decent notes for each session I attended. The convenient way to do this was to use NeoOffice (OpenOffice) and at the end of the conference I had several pages of notes which was great.

However, we use wikis pretty extensively to collaborate within Sun and I wanted to get my notes into wiki format and had to do it the hard way (copy paste the text in and add wiki formatting).

What would have been great is to have a Save As or Export to wiki format available right there in OpenOffice. I did a bit of searching and didn't seem to find anything but if anyone has any pointers, please share.

I did manage to find a number of tools for converting HTML to wiki format and so that might be an option (save as to HTML then convert) and I'll try some of them out (and if anyone has any pointers for the best tool for that, please share), but I would have thought someone would have created the more elegant solution already.

Comments:

If you're using TWiki - as lots of Sun does, you may find the OpenOffice2TWikiAddOn useful. I've not tried it, but in the Developer topic ( http://twiki.org/cgi-bin/view/Plugins/OpenOffice2TWikiAddOnDev ) KoenMartens mentions he has an updated version. ---------------- Sven Dowideit http://distributedINFORMATION.com
