UCSB Internet2 to Jerusalem

Kevin Roebuck
Director, Digital Experience
Nothing like the day after a 15 hour seminar at the EBC. The forum
went well. it was great to have john gage stop by and doug
englebart pretty much stole the show with his thoughts on
just how difficult it is to change paradigms and human systems..

we wrapped it up around 7:30. the EBC staff noted that the
left-over beer and wine would go to waste unless someone
spoke up for it. enough said. happy thanksgiving.

i learned tuesday that UCSB was accepted with a collaborative group for
Megaconference for Internet2 on the 9th. They will link with Simon
Weisenthal Centers in LA and NY and with the Contact Center in
Jerusalem. Teachers and students will participate from here. This is
the beginning of a potential collaboration around the books published
by the Weisenthal Center. The theme bringing this group together is
creating a just and tolerant world. We will go live to 130 sites
around the world for 20 minutes and then have a sidebar meeting
linking teachers with authors and pen pals of Ann Frank. This is
designed as an interactive session to brainstorm across sites next
steps and future collaborations. We are waiting for our time
allocation. We will request 9 am SB/LA time so that we can link at a
reasonable time with NY and Jerusalem.
we're figuring out now how to run it on Sun....
i'll have the prezo's from the knowledge enterprise forum posted
to sun.com/edu/libraries week after next...
