If you'd like to be able to present information in an interactive way instead of sequentially, then check out Pachyderm. It's a free, easy-to-use, open source web-based authoring tool written in Java that allows users to upload their own text, images, animations and videos into custom or pre-built design templates which is then output as a flash presentation. It creates a really nice user experience. "Pachy" is supported by the New Media Consortium, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Institute for Museum and Library Studies. We provided a T2000 to Case Western University who are rolling out Pachy for the Medical School so we'll have a Solaris-based Sunray reference in place soon. Finally No More Slides! Instead, experiences.
