No Name Cafe

Kevin Roebuck
Director, Digital Experience

The No Name Cafe is located in building 43 of Google's main campus in Mountain View. I met up with Cristin to talk about her soapbox session in the upcoming digital hollywood event next month. It turns out, there are all kinds of very cool things you can do in the classroom with google tools like sketchup, earth, picassa and scholar. We're trying to build on the recent Sun-Google collaboration announcement promoting Java-based application tools and services for teaching and learning. After a rather colorful walk onto the campus past the visible fusbol games, exercise machines, car wash services, laundry machines and lava lamps, I arrive at the No Name Cafe to find a bustling gaggle of people all jockeying for different fresh smoothies, omelets, fruits and other goodies. I pick out a fresh strawberry-banana smoothie, scrambled eggs, thick canadian bacon and some peets coffee. I look around for Cristin and ask, "so where do i pay". She laughs, looks at me funny and says, "it's all free". So, I think i'm going to make it a personal point to bring back doughnut day, at least for EDU. Come to think of it, I miss the friday Beer Busts too. Our day is coming again soon after this weeks growth news. 29%. Most since those glorious dot.com days. Yee-Haa. Here we go. It's going to be a fun ride, especially with folks like Google around to hang out with on occasion. Cool company, Cool culture.
