Another example today of a grid-powered digital media network service to render everything from films, to virtual worlds, games, simulations, animations, commerce and education in the immersion space. This one is called Cinegrid. Nice folks there and it looks like some very interesting collab spaces with mediagrid, wonderland, darkstar and streamstar. I signed up for membership at hit the 2007 annual conference in sunny san diego. I love those short flights.
A new query came in to Sun today from a senior lecturer in Ireland developinga viral game development environment with OpenCDS as the core of thesystem. I had too google it as I hadn't heard about it before and, sureenough, it's our stuff. Cool. Mobile learning platforms are perfect for students and faculty on the move and this could be our first project and community-of-interest to support it.
I get a sense of what is about to happen to the education business when I sign up for guitar lessons directly from Nils Lofgren at $15 a pop. And, Bruce and the E Street Band are on tour and headed to town.
