We're making a contribution in support of the International Conference on Preservation of Digital Objects conference to be held October 8-10 at Cornell. They have always been a great research partner with Sun as a Center-of-Excellence in Digital Libraries and it's great to see a terrific collection of speakers and topics. With a central theme around collaboration, i'm hoping Tim's presentation on the National Digital Heritage Archive project at the National Library of New Zealand provides a rallying point around an open technical and business approach to national scale digitization and preservation. We just found yesterday we're being fused with our healthcare team so it will be interesting to see the medical community looking at digital preservation too over the course of the year. The Library of Congress has phase 2 grants open to commercial digital archives too so some really interesting discussions are underway for a proposal submission for the TV and Film Archive, American Film Institute and others. Thumper is ready and willing to help them all.
