Java and the America's Cup

This is a quick snapshot of the very cool lobby at Americas Cup Event Authority just before our meeting on Friday. The project is a go and we're putting together the project plan now for a student-created 3D Web experience of the Americas Cup using OpenWonderland to promote Java and STEM education along with our new corporate partnership with iED. Initial ideas include models of SF Waterfront build-out, detailed animated models of Oracle Racing boat components, visualizing real-time telemetry, lessons on the physics of sailing and environmental planning and sustainability. The preliminary races are underway already so watch this space for more news soon to see how you can help out, participate and hopefully see Oracle Racing keep the Cup again in 2013.
