Yesterday I was absolutely thrilled to add Dreamworks Animation as a guest speaker for my upcoming Digital Hollywood University Project event at the computer history museum. Marilyn has been at Dreamworks for 13 years coming from Pacific Data Images in an acquisition and now runs their outreach programs and special projects efforts to reach out to the next-generation of budding animators at universities around the world. With the latest generation of animated films getting closer and closer to looking like the real world, what's possible in new mediums of the broadband web to educate kids are really limitless as we talked about with UBC library yesterday. What I am really hoping for is to present to Dreamworks outreach students, the chance to try out their rendering projects on the SunGRID. I'll even donate the first 10,000 hours to get them started and just watch the magic be created.
