I like this equation from sunweb as to what this kind of number really means. "So, how
big is 500 teraflops? To get to that number of calculations, Sun
calculates you could take every man, woman, and child on earth and
tell them to do one simple math calculation per second for 24 hours
with no breaks. It would take 6 billion people one full day to get to
what the new Sun supercomputer will do in one second". Phenomenal. Kudos to the Sun team and folks at the University of Texas at Austin. More News on the effort here
