The University of British Columbia library dropped by today to talk about collaboration models in the construction of their new $70M learning center. Think of it as a cross between a theme park, game arcade and social center for experimenting with how all kinds of people learn and interact with knowledge in an inter-disciplinary way. We shared how computer architectures like we've done for the UK's Building Schools for the Future project can alter the physical designs of buildings to the wonderfully weird ideas of inhabited TV to massive multi-player gaming with Project Darkstar. The center is due to open next fall and it looks to be a great place to share and develop many of the digital hollywood concepts and start building a future for kids that doesn't resemble education in Pink Floyd's classic, The Wall. Plus, it will be great to visit Vancouver and hopefully hit the slopes this winter at Whistler.
