Digital Hollywood's New Media Summit is next week at the New York Hilton.
It's really one of the more fascinating conferences which I am fortunate enough
to attend, but also to serve on the board of advisors for the University Project.
One of my central theme's in this job is education is fun, or should be. New
media technology ranging from the gifted animators at Pixar or Dreamworks
to the virtual worlds of massive multi-player environments to the storytelling
at UCLA or USC's famed Film Schools. Content is king and digital hollywood
brings out the best from a variety of places including bandwidth, devices
and content. At the spring event, there was even a breakout track on the
adult entertainment industry. If you have any ideas on what content is
pushing the limits of the net, it ain't sellling books on-line.
The University Project session is a fascinating departure from the general
conference where a more scholastic discussion takes place on a number
of topics and great panelists. Our real goal is changing education from
the outside with a radically cool new approach to learning. Change from
the inside is too difficult. We want to have fun and make a difference in
the lives of children around the world.
So, drop in if you're in the Big Apple next week.
