OpenSolaris Web Stack Project

The last few weeks have been busy, enough so that I hadn't had time to update the blog. I've been leading the OpenSolaris Web Stack Project. The Web Stack project had been around for a handful of months but wasn't very active. We decided to kickstart it a bit and there's been a lot of activity lately as we plan the delivery of Apache (2.2.6), PHP (5.2.4) and Squid (2.6.STABLE16) into OpenSolaris.

To quote what I wrote on the project description page, "the goal of this project is to address the OpenSolaris community needs for web tier technologies". So we're doing much more than those three basics, those are just the initial integrations to get a few basic building blocks in.

Additional component talks have already started, covering MySQL, Ruby (& Rails) and memcached.

Whether you are an administrator or developer, if you have an interest in the topic of web tier components in Solaris please join us in the Web Stack Project!
