In the zone - new demo/example of zones on OTN

Zones, formally called "Oracle Solaris zones", formerly called "Solaris Containers", and typically just called "zones", is a widely used feature of Solaris that provides OS-level virtualization with native performance, features for quick deployment and cloning, isolation and security at no extra cost. OTN is hosting a new flash demo with a customer story and explanation showing how zones can reduce costs and improve delivery of new services with quicker time to market. To play it, go to http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/tech/OTN_Demos/Zones/Zones-OTN-Demo.html.

This will cover familiar territory if you're experienced with zones, but it highlights an interesting and successful use-case, and will be useful for those who haven't yet used zones and want to know its benefits.

A new world record

News flash: I just learned on Jeff Victor's blog at http://blogs.oracle.com/JeffV/ that zones were just used in a new world-record benchmark result. He enumerates zone features that contributes to the result, and points to a blog and official announcement describing it.
