I have never realized how difficult it is to find the download page for the VirtualBox Guest additions, it is not accessible from the wiki, at this time... After some time spent on Google, here is the answer:
If you need to download an ISO image of VirtualBox Guest Additions, go to:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/
... and navigate to desired folder. The ISO image should be listed there.
Here goes the direct link for 2.2: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/2.2.0/VBoxGuestAdditions_2.2.0.iso
my VirtualBox downloaded it automatically!
sartek: Yes, this could happen - it depends on how you installed it... Anyway, it is irrelevant - this post is for those who are looking for VirtualBox Guest Additions ISO download, right;)?
Thanks a lot!
Who the heck designed that Sun web site ??
It is sooooo difficult to find something usefull there.
Regards,
BT
Many thanks for that. I was beginning to think I was having a very senior moment in being able to locate this iso file and it was good to realise that I was at least not alone.
Many thanks for that.Thank you so much for this great article it's so useful
Their website STINKS... now that Oracle owns them I'm wondering if it will get any better. Based on Oracle's software - probably not! and it's probably outsourced which would explain a lot!
Thank you very much for the information!
Thank You!
(sartek: you're an idiot.)
thx a lot...°°°
Thanks! I was getting frustrated...
After looking for them for at least 2 hours... at last!
THANK YOU soooooo much!
Pet
Thanx!!!
I agree its B.S. that there is no obvious useful link on the website to the guest additions, it just says 'use them they are available'. I just upgraded after the nag screen has been bugging me for weeks, and the V machine wouldn't start because it didn't like the old guest additions.
Instead of being productive I have to hunt this crap down. how I installed it is the Window host and Guest from the newer setup.exe.
Thanks, just what I needed!
The short link to the top of the download area so you can grab from the appropriate version you need:
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/
Lee: Yes, I mention the link in the post;)...
Everyone: I didn't expect this would be my most read article:-D...
Guys,
If you are using the free for personal use VirtualBox binaries, (as opposed to OSE) the guest additions are always installed with the product.
So you don't need to download anything.
Just type <hostkey>+D (or Devices...Install Guest Additions in the menu bar) in your guest window to mount the Guest Additions iso automatically.
Cheers
Andy
Thanks for the clarification, Andy.
Anyway, I still don't understand why there is not a link "Complete Downloads Archive" on the Downloads page linking to the http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/ page. The change would take some 2 minutes...
I wrote this post as I was in the situation when I had VirtualBox installed, but there was no ISO image of the VBoxGuestAdditions... I didn't much care for why they aren't there - I needed get my job done.

thank you !!!
Many thanks, very useful!
thanks a lot!
thanks you saved my time!
Thank you very much. It's a useful post! ;)
Thanks. Helped me to find that darn ISO. For the last version I found it much more easily. Strange...
Thanks a million! Searched for hours and couldn't find it, then I stumbled on your post and there it is! Love VB but need Additions to do some things I want to do. Thanks again!
Thanks a million searched for days and could not find the download thanks again
Petr - thank YOU so much for helping out!
Also, Linux Mint 8 on my Windows Vista does not mount the ISO. I might not be doing what I should the way I should - in any case I grabbed the image.
I have no problem with Sun or Sun's web. Virtual Box is great software free of charge. Thanks Sun!
Thank you so much for finding that. Saved me a lot of time.
Just a link on the download page....come on guys. Just add a link.
I always have to google to find the place to get the GuestAdditions.
I was looking for this more then 3 hrs on google, :D thanks alot
Mr. Petr Dvorak, thank you very much for your help and for posting this blog.
I can confirm what Andy said about VirtualBox. I am also using VirtualBox Personal End User License (PEUL). It does include the Guest Additions. Unfortunately, due to the license, many companies and large enterprises might prefer to use VirtualBox Open Source Edition (OSE), which does not seem to include the Guest Additions.
Sun (acquired by Oracle) does not include binaries for VirtualBox PEUL.
I have found and tried the following two VirtualBox OSE Binaries (GNU GPL):
VBox (Win 32-bit): http://vboxwin32.sourceforge.net/
OSEBox (Win 32-bit): http://code.google.com/p/osebox/
Since these two binaries for VirtualBox OSE do not include the VirtualBox Guest Additions ISO, I needed a way to download them independently. This is why I must thank Mr. Petr Dvorak.
Everyone, enjoy VirtualBox, whether it's PEUL or OSE.
Petr THANK YOU soooooooo much!
For years their website remain without that link (and still is) ...

hi,I only have 800X600 on my VM,Can i change it to 1024X768?
Thanks!
Mucho Thanko :)
A question. I need help. I don't have the "DEVICES" menu on my XP VM hosted by Windows &. I was at this site and tried the directive on ISO download, but dont know how to use it. I have even burnt the file to cd, but it does not show up on my machine (virtual) after installing. How do I get the version that has the "DEVICES" menu installed? That is the only thing I need to be able to run on a full screen.
Thanks.
