Linux For You, May 2007 edition shipped a Solaris Express DVD (3/07). It also had an step-by-step “How to install Solaris Express” article that Ananth had written. As Murphy would have it, the DVD shipped with the magazine has a bug that might prevent users from installing Solaris Express to the hard disk.
During the installation if you Choose your Time Zone as “Asia -> India” (as most of you will), the installer will hang when you enter the root password and click next. This is a known bug documented here and resolved subsequently To workaround this issue, choose any “US Timezone” like say “Americas -> United States -> Central Time”. After installation, you can always change the timezone from your installed Solaris Express by running /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig.
Hopefully, people who hit this bug will Google their way here ! And if any of your friends are LFY readers be sure to pass the word !
