Regarding whether it is important to get certified - personally, while there is value in preparing to be certified, for experienced professionals i do not think it is mandatory. It would help professionals who are new to Test Management roles or those from other areas and new to testing. It is true that the certification process offers a good grounding on various areas. However, i am neutral about certification. As long as the candidate has the knowledge and abilities to handle the role, i am ok, irrespective of certification status. Also, certification can probably help clarify that the candidate has the base level of skill sets for the role. Beyond that, a detailed assessment is needed to truly ascertain if the individual is truly suitable.
