Finally blogging

Finally I join the ranks of active bloggers.

I had actually started setting up this blog ages ago. But being far too perfectionist I never felt ready to start publishing anything. Now, after attending a workshop with Linda Skrocki that raised my courage for this, I feel compelled to finally press this publish button for the first time.

To get started, a few words about me:

  • Who I am: I live in a village near Hamburg, Germany with my family.
  • What I do: I've been with Sun Microsystems for what seems like ages and have been working as a software engineer on things related to desktops. Recently I have been working on Sun Ray server software. Most recently I have worked on improving security of the Sun Ray system even more. I also maintain the Kiosk Mode that was new in SRSS 4.0. Before that, I helped create the Sun Desktop Manager. That wasis a great piece of software for centrally managing desktop settings for large user populations. Now available as Free Software, which could use a little more love. My first job at Sun was in the StarOffice group, working on the configuration system for OpenOffice.org after a short stunt working on the OpenOffice.org DataBase project.
  • What else: I plan to tell you a bit more about me in this blog. Stay tuned, read more.
